Why?

Addressing the Challenges of India's Aging Population

India's Aging Population Challenge:

By 2050, 25% of India's population will be aged 60 and above. Seniors' annual growth rate projected at 3.8%, surpassing the overall population growth of 1.8%.

Factors Driving Growth:
  • Disintegration of the joint family system and migration trends, increasing need for alternative living arrangements for seniors.
  • Senior citizens opt for senior living facilities as a choice, not solely out of necessity.
  • Desire for independent living and the enjoyment of personal space.
  • Shrinking living units in big cities and towns often pose challenges in meeting needs.
Addressing the Challenge:
  • Developing senior living facilities that provide independence, privacy, and suitable living spaces.
  • Creating inclusive communities that cater to the diverse needs and preferences of senior citizens.

What?

Essential Infrastructure for Seniors:

Assistance for daily personal chores

Adequate nutrition

Sufficient home maintenance

Emergency care

Security

Sense of community and engagement

Most facilities offering tailored support and amenities are unaffordable for the majority. Ownership-based models limit accessibility for middle-class seniors.

To address this, a rental-based model is being used, involving a one-time deposit and monthly rental fee, making it more feasible for the middle-class. Expanding rental-based senior living options in different cities is crucial to provide care and support for a significant proportion of the aging population, easing the burden on families and improving the overall well-being of senior citizens.
